FOR SETTLERS

With many years of experience working with Indigenous and Non-Indigenous audiences, Kahsenniyo has crafted workshops and training specifically to help education Non-Indigenous/Settler organizations, agencies and businesses in an effort to provide opportunities for reconciliation, education, and understanding. Leaning on her work as a poet, these workshops provide a unique experience for settlers to engage in often hard and difficult subject matter through a carefully curated training that is meant to bring these issues alive.

CULTURAL COMPETENCY

1.5 HOUR TRAINING

This training will provide very basic overview of Indigenous History: including Indigenous family structures, residential schools, MMIW, Indigenous policies, Justice system, Health Care, Social Services

Further to a historical overview this training will explore contemporary issues utilizing Kahsenniyo's poetry performance and storytelling

CULTURAL COMPETENCY

HALF DAY TRAINING

This training will provide MID LEVEL overview of Indigenous History: including Indigenous Family structures, residential schools, MMIW, Indigenous policies, Justice system, Health Care, Social Services, Treaty and Land Rights, Child Welfare.

This half day training will take a more in depth look into the impact of all of these issues within a contemporary context utilizing Kahsenniyo's poetry performance, storytelling and experience of almost 20 years working with Indigenous Nations, communities and people.

CULTURAL COMPETENCY

FULL DAY TRAINING

This training will provide a fulsome overview of Indigenous Historical issues including: Indigenous lives and family structures prior to contact, major systematic concerns, Residential Schools, Treaties, and policies.

This training will ensure that participants understand the impact of this history through a poetry performance by Kahsenniyo that will weave in personal stories of her lived experience.

Furthermore, this training will provide an opportunity for participants to engage in an interactive activity to assist in understanding the impact on Indigenous people within a contemporary context.
