INDIGENOUS WORKSHOPS
Kahsenniyo provides a variety of workshops that have been designed and tailored for Indigenous people on reserve or in an urban setting. Kahsenniyo combines her poetry, years of youth work, personal experience, and research to bring alive our issues in a raw, sensitive and interactive way.
Tending to our Baskets
This work shop includes a spoken word performance and utilizes Haudenosaunee basket teachings to explore inter-generational trauma and the effects of colonization. This is an interactive workshop where we will collectively and proactively look at the impacts of residential school legacy on our communities, nations and selves. Through this experience participants will be empowered, heard, and feel a bit more connected to each other.
Timeframe: 30 minute poetry performance and 1 hour activity/ discussion
Changes to this workshop: minimal understanding of residential schools and history is needed. More time can be added if your group requires an educational prep or a more extensive debrief
COLONIZA VIRUS
This is an interactive workshop creates a scenario where there is a zombie apocalypse that is spreading through our communities. It is aimed at engaging young people in a variety of topics that directly effect them such as Justice System, Land Claims, Education System, Child Welfare, Residential School Legacy, Family violence, Governance, Substance issues, Climate change, Lateral Violence/Bullying. This workshop will have participants explore these topics and through imagination, play, and creativity. The participants will work together,to create solutions to these problems. This workshop is wonderful for youth leadership and feedback.
Timeframe: 3 hours-full day
Number of participants: Max 200
Workshop modifications: This workshop can be tailored and modified to fit specific topic areas if your youth are focussing on a particular topic. The workshop time can be increased to ensure that the necessary education and support is provided to the youth depending on their needs.

THE ANCESTORS HAVE PRAYED FOR YOU
Through this workshop Kahsenniyo will provide a powerful poetry performance, while weaving in stories of her perseverance and life experiences. This workshop will also highlight the 7 generations teachings and how these teachings serve as a reminder that we have been thought of, manifested and prayed for currently and throughout history.
Timeframe: 45min - 1 hour
SLAY EVERYDAY
This workshop is centered around decolonizing our perception of beauty for ourselves as Indigenous women and LGBTQ2S people. Together we will explore how do we see ourselves, how are we influenced and how can we feel good in our own bodies no matter our age, shape and size. This workshop will have participants walking away feeling loved, cherished and seeing themselves as beautiful, sexy and sensual.
